Raccoons and Deer Feeders

Providing supplemental feed for deer, turkey, quail and other game species is a common expense for many Missouri landowners and Missouri hunting clubs wanting to increase the number of these animals on their property. But, how much is being spent feeding other wildlife such as raccoons, skunks and opossums? Studies have shown that the average raccoon can consume as much as 5 pounds of food a night while storing fat for winter. With year round feeding that comes to about 1,825 lbs. of feed a year per Raccoon, that’s almost a ton of feed per raccoon. As you can see by the photos, rarely is there ever just one raccoon consuming feed from your feeders. Financially the numbers are staggering. How much do you pay for a pound of feed? Multiple that times 10 raccoons and now we are talking about significant loss to raccoons, skunks and opossums. Add in the factor that when these critters claim your feeder, whitetails and game birds WILL move on to other sources. Not to mention the impact raccoons, skunks and opossums have on the nests of upland game birds.

Investing in your property and the game species that live there will have long term benefits, but dense populations of raccoons, skunks and opossums can negatively impact your investment. We can help you assess your losses to raccoons, skunks and opossums and create a solution. Allow us to help your long term investment bring in "BIG" dividends.
